(EN)Ursula von der Leyen unblocks and humiliates herself: "We must buy Russian oil to fight Putin!"May 29, 2022
From memory of self-flagellation, the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, seems to have enjoyed her initiation course at La Fistinière. She announced that she wanted to put pressure on Moscow with a progressive ban on oil imports in order to "make Vladimir Putin pay a high price" for his war against Ukraine. But that was before...
The President of the European Commission on Wednesday, May 4, 2022: "We will gradually give up Russian deliveries of crude oil within six months and of refined products by the end of the year. This will be a complete ban on imports of all Russian oil, transported by sea or pipeline, crude and refined (...) in an orderly fashion, in a way that will allow us to develop alternative supply routes."
Ursula is very aware that the high price will not be paid by Russia - which is already looking to China and India. It is the people of Europe who have to tighten their belts for the sake of the Americans, who are increasing their oil imports from Russia... It doesn't matter to the President of the European Commission, the people of Europe have to sacrifice: "It won't be easy. Some states are heavily dependent on Russian oil. But we simply have to work at it."
A big problem for our budding American agent: Hungary is more than 75 percent dependent on Russian oil and does not intend to do without it. After vetoing the sanctions against Russian gas - "We have made it clear that we will never support the extension of EU sanctions against Russia to the energy sector" - Viktor Orban repeats about oil with the precious veto right. (A veto that Ursula von der Leyen and Emmanuel Macron want to see replaced by a majority vote).
With the response of the Opec (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries), which refuses to replace Russian oil, it is a firm "no" that Ursula is taking in her teeth. Faced with this humiliation, she was forced to change her tune in an interview on the MSNBC channel. She tried to explain the inexplicable regarding the continuity of Russian oil purchases by Europe: "What we always have to do is find the right balance between not hurting our economy because that's our strongest side against this Russian aggression, Putin's aggression, and taking the example of oil, we'll have to make sure that if we cut off (Russian) oil completely and immediately from today, we don't want Putin to be able to take the oil that he's not selling to the European Union to the world market where the prices are going to go up and it's going to sell for more. "
Translation: "We Europeans absolutely must buy Russian oil, so that Vladimir Putin does not make more profits elsewhere." In the end, no sanctions will be taken against Putin, despite the threats of Ursula von der Leyen. So we will continue to buy Russian oil (much cheaper than American). And if in the future you want to fight an enemy, buy from him whatever he sells you, this is a technique approved by Ursula.
From crazy announcements to humiliations, from debandades to debandades, the pseudo incompetence at the top of Europe has the objective of serving American interests... Until when?
